Discovery

At St. Peter’s discovery units are planned using the inquiry approach to learning. The discovery process allows students to become responsible for their own learning as they are actively encouraged to have a voice and choice in curriculum design.

Students will effectively develop skills such as: self-management, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration and resilience so that they can be active citizens within our community and beyond.

At St.Peter’s we aim to:

  • Integrate many areas of the curriculum into each discovery unit to ensure the learning is relevant, challenging and delivered in meaningful contexts
  • Tune our students into each discovery unit through the use of literature, hands on experiences, incursions or excursions
  • Provide opportunities for students to explore, find out, organise information and think further
  • Explore possible ways to act on our learning so that students can make a difference in our community and in our world
